Skiing in a Winter Wonderland at Deer Valley Resort

With this year’s heavy snowfall, we are experiencing something really special – flocking!

When I was a little kid, my family used to love to flock our Christmas tree with fake snow. The white covering on the pine needles looked so magical to us as little kids when we sat in our living room in sunny Southern California. Growing up as a navy kid, we were always living on a coast, so I never got to experience hiking into the snowy woods full of trees and harvesting one to put up in a place of honor in our home for the Christmas holiday season. Yet, I always dreamed of being in a forest with the snow falling and the tall pines surrounding me.

I got my wish.

Deer Valley even did that dream one better. Skiing the other day on Flagstaff Mountain, I was surrounded by pines covered in snow. A real winter wonderland. I felt like I was in a dream. Some moist air must have frozen on these trees

Even better than my childhood dream, there was no need to hike up the hill as the chairlift operators were happy to dust off a seat to give us a lift to the top.
