Nick Page is a Park City local and member of the US Freestyle Ski Team. He is currently ranked 9th in the world and 2nd in the United States for moguls. (Only behind Brad Wilson, Deer Valley’s other team athlete!)

Last year, Nick earned his first World Cup podium in Sweden; had four top-10 results; became the US National Champion; and made his first World Championship appearance. He also received the ‘World Cup Rookie of the Year’ award, alongside being part of the US Team to bring home the Nations Cup.

Nick has put a lot of work into being one of the best skiers in the world and is arguably one of the best jumpers in mogul skiing history. He is one of only three mogul skiers to ever compete a Cork 1440 — the most difficult trick in moguls.

His skiing career all started at Deer Valley — He will tell you it’s where he found his love for skiing and competition. Nick’s parents taught him to ski at 2 years old and enrolled him in Deer Valley’s Ski School Program as a Bambi. He eventually enrolled in Wasatch Freestyle’s weekend program at the resort, as a Mogul Monster.

That same year, Nick watched Bryon Wilson (another former Deer Valley team athlete!) win a bronze medal at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.

“I remember watching him on TV in my living room when my dad told me that Bryon had skied with the same program I had just started on, Wasatch Freestyle. I was over the moon knowing that someone from my same program just won a medal in the Olympics and knew right there that this is what I wanted to do too!”

Nick spent every weekend at Deer Valley, skiing until 3 p.m. with Wasatch Freestyle, then asking his parents to pick him up when the mountain closed at 4:30 p.m. And then most days he still had the energy to get home still wearing all his gear and hike up the hill behind his house until he was called in for dinner.

“I loved everything that skiing had to offer — the joy I got from being out on the snow, getting to talk to the lift attendants and other skiers as I asked them how they were doing, and ultimately practicing and working to get better every day at something.”

Nick has competed in the Deer Valley World Cup twice, and before he foreran the event three times as a member of Wasatch Freestyle.

“That event means so much to me. I remember vividly all the years standing down in the crowd cheering my favorite skiers on, searching for them to ask for a picture and autograph, and ultimately dreaming of being in that position one day — and now, that day is here where I get to be the person I was once chasing. The Deer Valley World Cup will always be home to me — it’s the run I learned to ski moguls on, and I’ve had so much of my career credited to what Deer Valley has made possible for me.”
