Join the Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History on Thursday, June 28, 2018, for a guided hike to the Little Bell ore bin located in the mid-mountain area of Deer Valley Resort. Enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch, prepared by Deer Valley’s talented chefs, while exploring one of the few mining era buildings remaining at Deer Valley. The hike from Silver Lake Village will explore many of the area’s once-productive mines before meeting contractor Clark Martinez at the Little Bell. Clark will explain the extensive stabilizations efforts needed to preserve this substantial wooden structure. Reservations are required; the cost is $75 per person or $140 per couple. Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History seek to stabilize and preserve the legacy of Park City’s historic mining structures. Silver mines once dotted the mountains surrounding Park City and a labyrinth of mine tunnels extend more than 1,000 miles under Park City’s trails. Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History, a non-profit organization, is working towards preserving our rich mining history for future residents and visitors alike.
