Deer Valley Resort Celebrates Halloween with 14th Annual Transylvania Tea Party

Spirited Staff and Community Blood Drive Serves Utah Blood Banks

In its 14th year, Deer Valley Resort employees and community members fittingly celebrate Halloween by donating blood at the annual Transylvania Tea Party Blood Drive. The holiday tradition, in partnership with ARUP Blood Services, will be held Tuesday, October 31 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.to support local community blood banks.

“This Halloween, we invite you to don your favorite costume… and give us some of your blood,” said Bob Wheaton, Deer Valley Resort president and chief operating officer. “Our Deer Valley team and the ARUP Blood Services staff turn what can be viewed as a daunting, but much needed, donation into a fun, festive experience that serves a critical need in our community.”

Deer Valley Resort staff welcomes the public to join them in giving blood at the Transylvania Tea Party held in Snow Park Lodge’s second floor Clock Room. Last year’s annual blood draw saw more than 100 participants who generously donated over 65 units of blood. Blood donations are in constant demand for emergency situations and individuals suffering from cancer, blood disorders, sickle-cell anemia and other illnesses. Walk-ins are welcome, and appointments can be scheduled by calling Deer Valley Resort Human Resources at 435-645-6654. Costumes are optional and light refreshments will be provided.

Donors must provide a photo ID, be 18 years or older (or at least 16 years old with parental permission slip), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. To find out if you are eligible to donate blood, please consult the ARUP Blood Services website at www.utahblood.org. ARUP Blood Services, a division of ARUP Laboratories which is an enterprise of the University of Utah and the Department of Pathology, will be conducting the drive and is proud to be the sole blood provider to University of Utah Hospital, Huntsman Cancer Hospital, Primary Children’s Medical Center and Shriners Hospital for Children.
