I noticed that you listed the price of ADULT ONE full season pass for next year but you did not list the price of ADULT TWO . What will the price be for the second adult? My husband and I have been skiing Deer Valley exclusively for the last 20+ years and the adult adult discount had made this possible for us. We do not care about having an Ikon pass as we only ski DV. Also just for feedback if you are interested, I have noticed a very big difference in the cliental from the Ikon pass holders. I have almost been run over, sworn at and generally rude behavior all over the mountain. It makes me very sad to see the quality of the resort go down so much in a single year, however; I will still continue to ski at Deer Valley exclusively and try to ignore the rude people that are coming due to the Ikon pass. I will contact ski patrol if the behavior is dangerous as I did this year. I would appreciate a response regarding the cost of the Adult Two full season pass for next season.

  2. Deer Valley says:

Hi Jill, thank you for reaching out and the feedback. Deer Valley will no longer offer the Adult Two Pass. We apologize for any inconvenience.

  3. Mary Song says:

Are you dropping the super senior pass for the 2019-2020 ski season for the old kids who are 70+ years?

I am a bit disappointed in the ski grooming conditions in 2019 . Generally ski DVR about 35 times/season. You fell short on your claims in the daily grooming report that a run was groomed on second shift. Needless to say, I found moguls and natural state on some runs like Orion and Mountaineer. Also the previous owners provided more groom runs than I seen in 2019.

Hope you do better in 2020.

  4. Isaac Stein says:

I think many of us are unhappy with the increased crowding this year. I do not understand how ikon pass holders are dealt with under the cap on skiers during holiday periods. Do they have to make a reservation or are they treated like Deer Valley season pass holders? If the latter, that explains the crowds. As someone who has been buying season passes for almost as long as the resort has existed, it feels like DV is being used as bait for selling the ikon passes at the expense of the experience that made Deer Valley the number one resort in the country. If you add snowboards the DV reputation will be over.

  5. Deer Valley says:

    Hi Mary,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and questions with us.The Deer Valley senior and super senior passes were combined for 19/20 to offer 1 senior option starting at 65+ and the price was reduced to the super senior level for this year–$1,100. That is a substantial discount (54.5%) off our full adult senior pass.
Regarding snow grooming, we are consistently grooming 60-65% of our runs nightly, the same amount as in years past. In a snow year like this, grooming conditions will change throughout the night/day due to all the fresh snowfall.
I hope this helps clarify some of your concerns.

  6. Deer Valley says:

Hi Isaac, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. Deer Valley is seeing an 11.5% increase in skiers to-date over last year. This is not just due to the Ikon Pass, all pass products are up due to the amazing snow year we are having. We still limit the daily lift tickets and have seen six sellout days so far this winter (all during the holiday periods). Ikon pass holders are counted in the daily skier cap the same way a day lift ticket is. We do encourage Ikon pass holders to make a reservation so they can get a lift ticket in case of a sellout situation- those numbers are counted towards the daily total. Ikon pass holders have limited access to the resort (5 days for the base pass and 7 days for the full Ikon Pass) and have to get a daily lift ticket each time they visit. Also, Deer Valley is continuing to offer a ski-only experience. I hope this helps answer your questions, thank you again for sharing your concerns.

  7. Don Serra says:

How does the Ikon base pass work for summer operations? Would I be able to use my 5 days at DV for mountain biking, or is that an additional charge?

  8. keith baker says:

Excepting last week, I don’t believe your claim that grooming pattern has not changed. Example from today’s ski report: Edgar’s Alley is not groomed, Perseverance is. Edgar’s alley used to be groomed on the same schedule as Perseverance.

Evergreen, Orient Express, & Emerald used to be groomed fairly regularly. Not anymore.

And it’s not just to quantify of grooming, which should be increased because the # of skiers has increased, the big failure this year is the quality of grooming– not tilled deep enough, too many ridges left where grooming passes overlap.

  9. Wayne Ferguson says:

Is adding the sales tax to the cost of a season price new this year……I do not remember this being a separate line item in the past?

  10. Deer Valley says:

    Hi Don,

The Ikon Base pass is not valid for summer operations at Deer Valley. With a 2019/2020 Ikon Base pass guests can enjoy one complimentary scenic ride lift ticket per day during the 2019 summer season. Upgrades are available for an additional cost.

  11. Deer Valley says:

    Hi Wayne,

The addition of sales tax is new this year.

  12. Deer Valley says:

    Hi Keith,

thank you for reaching out. Please know that no changes have been made to our grooming efforts. We are regularly grooming 55 to 65 runs a night, the same as in past years with many of our same staff members, including our slope grooming manager who has been with the resort almost 40 years. Deer Valley has received new snow 62 of the 102 days we have been open this ski season. Overnight and day snowfall, natural vs man-made snow, time of day skied, temperature, snowpack, etc can all affect the final grooming product. An uneven surface is caused by trying to compact and groom the constant new snow. We have passed your comments on to our management team. Thank you again for reaching out. Have a wonderful time on the slopes.

  13. Isaac Stein says:

This season, you required Ikon pass holders to make reservations during Christmas week and, of course, they had to go to the ticket window. This gave you the ability to cap the number of Ikon holders on a given day. Next season, with the installation of RFI, I am told that Ikon pass holders can ski right to the lift without going to a ticket window. The key question is whether they need to make a reservation. If not, the ski cap becomes meaningless. There are more that 250,000 Ikon passes out there. Even a small percentage of them could swamp the resort on a holiday. As Season Pass holders, we should know how you are going to control the number of Ikon pass holders on a holiday like Christmas week. From just riding the lifts, we have heard lots of concerns on how you are handling this. Please advise.

  14. Deer Valley says:

    Hi Isaac,
We will be counting Ikon passes and season passes by scans at the RFID gates, the system gives us access to more advanced technology to count these passes. We will still adhere to our daily skier cap by adjusting the number of daily lift tickets sold in relation to the pass scans.

  15. Isaac Stein says:

But that means you are putting no limits on Ikon passes during the holiday periods! Without a quota for that category, we could be overrun by Ikon holders. You need some kind of reservation system for Ikon passes. This is exactly what season pass holders are concerned about. You need to do some market research with your existing skiers to understand how upset people are. You are destroying the magic that gave Deer Valley its reputation.

  16. Deer Valley says:

    Hi Isaac,
The https://ikonres.deervalley.com/ system will also still be in place and we will continue our daily skier cap.

  17. Richard Getz says:

    Good evening.

Multi year season pass holder here.

One of the reasons I purchased a season pass was for the summer mountain bike lift access. Now, if I’m reading correctly, for summer of 2020, a DV season pass, 7-Day or MIDWEEK, will have summer lift access, one per day, but I’m going to have to pay an upcharge to put my bike on the lift?

    Seriously?

And how much is the cost of this daily “upcharge”?

  18. Brad Kuhn says:

Next year, the senior pass holders will not receive an Icon Base Pass. Is there an Icon Base Pass discount for senior pass holders, or is it more economical to purchase a military season pass to receive both a Deer Valley Season pass and an Icon Base Pass.

It is rather disheartening to see that Alterra is cutting back on the benefits for season pass holders, particularly seniors.

  19. Deer Valley says:

    Hi Brad,
Thank you for reaching out to us regarding our Senior Season Pass and your concerns about the lack of Ikon Base Pass benefit being included for the coming winter season. Our decision was made based on the fact that there is no Senior Ikon Bass Pass product as well as the economic factors of keeping the senior pass pricing as low as possible. The resort has to purchase the Ikon Passes included with our season passes and that is not something we can do when offering a product that is discounted almost 55% already.
Deer Valley Adult Season Pass – $2,365.00
Deer Valley Senior Season Pass – $1,100.00
Discount off of Adult Pass for Seniors is 54.5%

Regarding your military season pass question:
Ikon Base Pass plus Senior Pass: $1100.00 + 649.00 = 1,749.00– Discount off of full Season Pass for Senior Pass plus Ikon Base Pass is 26%
If you qualify for a military season pass, the pricing is $1650 and would include an Ikon Pass.

  20. Deer Valley says:

    Hey Richard,

We are still working out the details for an upgrade to a bike park pass for 2020/2021 Season Pass holders for the summer 2020 season. We will have summer 2020 pass pricing around March 2020.

  21. Bob Yerman says:

Sorry, I’m still confused. If I purchase an Icon Pass for the 2019-2020 season, will I be able to use it at Deer Valley for summer biking in 2019? Will there be a surcharge for my bike ? Will I be limited to 7 days, and/or would those days be counted toward my 19/20 ski season?

  22. Deer Valley says:

    Hi Bob,

We have sent you an email to the address you listed in your profile.

  23. SUSAN ANDERSON says:

Hi, if I have two children in the deer valley ski program, ages 6&7, should they buy an ikon pass or does the program include lift passes?

  24. Deer Valley says:

    Hi Susan,

Thanks for reaching out. The Deer Valley Reindeer Club (5-6 & year olds) and the Deer Valley Adventure Club include a lift ticket, the lesson, and lunch. You can get more information about each program here: (Reindeer Club) https://www.deervalley.com/plan-your-trip/lessons/ski-lessons/youth-reindeer-club (Adventure Club) https://www.deervalley.com/plan-your-trip/lessons/ski-lessons/youth-adventure-club Lift passes will only be valid on days when the kids are in the program. Please let us know if you have any other questions we can help you with. We look forward to seeing you and the kids on the slopes.

  25. Lance Colvin says:

I’m a (recently) local downhill mountain biker who rode Deer Valley a couple of times last year. I loved it! I’m curious if you offer a Summer Season mountain biking pass. Or, some kind of packages for mountain biking passes? Please let me know. Thanks, Lance

  26. Deer Valley says:

HI Lance, thanks for reaching out. You can find a full list of mountain bike pricing here: https://www.deervalley.com/plan-your-trip/tickets-and-passes/summer-lift-tickets We do offer a season pass at $425. We also offer great lesson options. You can find bike lesson information here: https://www.deervalley.com/plan-your-trip/lessons/bike-lessons Let us know if we can help you with anything else. We look forward to seeing you on the mountain this summer.

  27. Theresa Mabbutt says:

May I ask what the daily rate for a senior will be for the new season for DV please.

I need to work out if it will be sensible for me to buy my senior season pass as I have done in recent years.

Two reasons — one of which is the seriously low exchange rate between the British Pound and US$ And the fact that I’ve bought an epic pass for next season so that I can gain access to PCMR at discounted rates. I only visit for 22 days each year and try to ski for minimum 17. Many thanks.

  28. Deer Valley says:

    Hi Theresa,

Thanks for reaching out. Our Senior lift ticket for the 2019/2020 ski season will range from $105 to $145 dollars. Buying tickets online in advance will ensure the best possible price. You can find a full list of pricing and purchase your tickets here: https://book.deervalley.com/ecomm/shop/calendar/10616450/en-US/?productcategoryId=117&startmonth=12 Please let us know if we can help with anything else. We will see you on the slopes this winter.
