Bari Nan Cohen

Bari Nan Cohen grew up skiing on the mountains near her hometown of Rutland, VT. After pit stops in upstate New York, Boston and Jerusalem for school, she spent eight years in New York City (working as an editor at Glamour, YM and Self magazine) before she and her husband took their first—and last—vacation to Utah in March 2001. By that August, they’d moved into their new home in Jeremy Ranch, and notwithstanding professional commitments at the Sundance Film Festival, and volunteer days at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, managed to ski 55 days in their first Utah winter.

A freelance writer whose celebrity interviews, healthy lifestyle stories, personal essays and parenting advice has appeared in publications including More, Good Housekeeping, Redbook, Shape, Glamour, Self, Parenting, American Baby, Weight Watchers and Babble.com, and the recently-published anthology, Women Reinvented from LaChance Press.

Since becoming a mom, Bari Nan has enjoyed sharing her love of alpine skiing with her two sons, who are now 7 and 3. This will be Big Guy’s fifth season, and Little Guy’s second. With both boys enrolled in ski school on Sundays, she’s looking forward to plenty of full-day ski dates with her husband. Their two Bichon Frise dogs, Betty and Veronica, will remain at home, for fear of becoming lost in Utah’s world-famous powder.
